Kiraç is a subdistrict belonging to the municipality of Büyükçekmece. Mostly comprises a poor area. Like many other neighbourhoods nearby Kiraç is a vicinity that began 20 years ago to populate. Small urban areas without a city planning formed by a tangle of small streets and concrete buildings are spread over the surrounding hillsides.
Spanish artist / photographer based in Istanbul and Valencia. Has completed his Master Degree in Fine Arts from Polytechnic University, Valencia (Spain, 2003). Also has studied Photography at Anotati School of Fine Arts (Athens, 2001), and at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (Istanbul, 2002). Exhibitions include "Once Upon a Time..." at BM Suma Contemporary Art Centre, Istanbul, January 2009, and "Password: Istanbul", permanent exhibition at Point Hotel Barbaros, Istanbul, curated by Beral Madra. In 2010 published the book Girilmez/Entrance Forbidden, a study on the concept of the frontiers in the city of Istanbul. The project was displayed in the exhibition "In Between / Arada / Tra", in Tophane-i Amire Cultural Centre, January - February 2010, Istanbul; also in "Lives And Works In Istanbul, Projects Exhibition".
